Shipston on Stour (5-7 minutes by car) is a small market town, with a traditional feel. Built around a square, it has a Post Office, 2 Co-Op stores and a small Morrisons' supermarket, a hardware store, a family greengrocer / fish merchant, a small Boots chemist, hairdressers and a beauty salon, antiques, clothes and gift shops, a wine merchant and a clock and watch specialist!
The George Townhouse is a favorite with our guests for good pub food.
The Bower House on Market Place, a little pricier than the George but has lovely food, and regular live music evenings.
Turners of Shipston - a family run greengrocer and fishmonger with delightful friendly staff and plastic free veg!
Sheldons Wine Merchant with a great range of wines.

Moreton-in-Marsh is also 5-7 minutes by car, a small market town with a traditional chemist, a small Tesco, large Aldi and a large Co-Op store. It also has a train station (from Oxford and London) several cafes and coffee shops, and a street market every Tuesday until 4pm (so parking is tricky on Tuesdays). There are several lovely places to eat and drink including:
Moreton Wine Merchants and Wine Bar
The Manor House Hotel (with bar and gardens open to general public):
Ilmington is 20 minutes by car, and the Howard Arms towards Shipston-on-Stour is a great gastro pub.
Ebrington just 15 minutes by car is the Ebrington Arms and nearby is Vegetable Matters - a family run farmshop and Cafe selling locally produced goods.
Chipping Norton is 15 minutes away by car, a market town, with a Boots Chemist, big Co-Op store, M&S Foodhall, WH Smith, Oat Healthfoods, Gills & Co hardware, Jeffe and Neal books, Chipping Norton theatre and cinema, a luxury cinema called The Living Room and lovely coffee bars and pubs - our favorites include The Blue Boar and the local Caffé Nero is lovely.
